INCATEMA Consulting & Engineering S.L., as part of a European consortium, has signed a contract with the European Commission that has the aim of supporting Turkish-Cypriot institutions to adapt their work procedures in food safety to the EU standards

For the next 2 years, INCATEMA, member of a European consortium led by PRYSMA Calidad y Medio Ambiente S.A., along with EURECNA and Centro Español de Metrología, will provide technical assistance to food analysis laboratories in the Turkish Cypriot community to update then analytical capacity as it is established in the European Union regulations.
This technical assistance contract intends to ameliorate analytical services of Turkish Cypriot community labs to guarantee that they are reliable to determine foodstuffs safety and quality as it is required in the EU acquis (food hygiene package with its modifications and updates). Its leit motiv is food safety as a cornerstone for food security, providing food products safe for consumption.
To achieve the aforementioned objective, beneficiary labs’ material resources availability will be assessed in the Turkish Cypriot region in order to determine the needs for new material means to work according to EU regulations. Furthermore, the contract includes a capacity building component addressed to beneficiary labs’ human resources so the technicians can assume and carry out the expected work routines of official analysis in a reference laboratory, though onsite hand-on training and study trips to other EU member countries.
This technical assistance is funded by the European Union.
