INCATEMA commissions partially rehabilitation works for Ouanaminthe market

INCATEMA Consulting & Engineering handed over works to rehabilitate and expand the old town wholesale market in Ouanaminthe to the Bureau of the National Authorising Officer of the European Development Fund in Haiti (abbreviated as BONFED in French). These works are part of the contract to build and equip a new wholesale market of 9,150 sq. m, needing a total groundwork of 80,000 cubic m, as well as a retaining wall to protect it from floods made of cribs with a 1,500 sq. m. surface and 15,300 cubic m fillings for an amount of 9 million euros.

Concerning the old market building, the contract includes some actions to rehabilitate it to make the area safer. This building is based on top soil, becoming muddy during every rainy season. To solve this issue, 50 cm of soil have been replaced in the entire market for a 20 cm concrete floor, involving a groundwork of 10,500 cubic m over a 12,229 sq. m surface.

Likewise, existing buildings for meat, vegetables and fruit marketing have been reinforced with a new metallic structure and roofs have been reinforced, along with a new sanitation network.

These works to rehabilitate Ouanaminthe central market are part of a EU-funded programme to build a large binational market with two buildings, the commissioned one in Ouanaminthe and another one in Dajabon (Dominican Republic).
