New Technical Assistance Contract for the Modernization, Construction and Procurement of a seeds conditioning and storage plant in El Salvador.

Incatema has been engaged by the Fondo Salvadoreño de Estudios de Preinversión (FOSEP) to carry out the “Feasibility Study of the Project “Modernization, Construction and Procurement of the Seeds Conditioning Plant and Storage Module of staple grains at CENTA in support of National Production”. The project will last six months and will be developed in close collaboration with CENTA managers in San Salvador”.
The National Centre of Agricultural and Forest Technology Enríque Álvarez Córdobba is the National public institution of reference entrusted to promote rural development and the dissemination of agro-productive technologies throughout the country. Among its services outstands the production, processing, storage and distribution of staple grain seeds highly demanded by national farmers done at its seeds conditioning and storage plant.
This pre-investment study has to lay the ground to aid modernization and upgrade of such plant in order to guarantee its capacity to meet the demand of seeds of quality grains by Salvadoran farmers. It has to respond to present production needs not met by National production but also to consider future development possibilities foreseeing the evolution of seeds demand and the capacity of each plant to satisfy it. 
In order to provide this technical assistance, INCATEMA has formed a multidisciplinary team of 8 professionals specialized in the different areas of the study (engineering, agronomics, industry, civil works, architecture, financing and social analysis). This team shall work in close collaboration with CENTA managers for the next six months and shall be in charge of the staple grain seeds market analysis at a National level, the review of infrastructures and devices of the seeds plant, the analysis of strategic alternatives for the modernization of such plant and the design of the profile of the selected alternative. This study will give priority to the participation of local actors in the whole process of information generation, analysis and strategic alternatives therefore INCATEMA has set up a permanent working group in San Salvador.
The study shall aid CENTA initiate the project for the modernization of the installations of the seeds storage and processing plant based on sound conclusions consistent with the reality of Salvadorian agriculture and its projection and future development expectations as guarantee of the National food safety and sovereignty.
