Support for child nutrition continues in Bangladesh.

Support for child nutrition continues in Bangladesh.

Last October the team of Incatema Consulting responsible for the execution of the project financed by EuroAid “Quality control of biscuits for school lunches” in Bangladesh, accomplished the tenth quality follow-up mission of these biscuits production and storage centres, taking place in 2013. The mission included moreover a visit to several education centres taking part in the project.

The School nutrition program financed by the European Union aims at the improvement of food security of children with low income of the area chosen, through the distribution of fortified biscuits. To ensure the success of this program, this technical assistance provides support to the implementation of the Quality system throughout the whole biscuits distribution chain, for the development and adoption of the appropriate biscuit production, distribution and storage procedures.

The project has established and implemented security and health protocols in production facilities and has started up a monitoring system which includes the adoption of the System for the Analysis of Hazards and Critical Control Aspects (HACCP), the promotion of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP).

The project is in its third year of execution accounting already an important consolidation of the enhancements of the process implemented at all actors of the distribution chain. This project represents a clear example of how a specific cooperation measure, such as the supply of food supplements to children, can be managed to maximize the positive impacts and lessons in the environment of the beneficiaries, which in this case is translated to the adoption of a system of good practices in food industries responsible for the production and distribution of fortified biscuits.
