TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION TO IMPLEMENT BAM PROGRAMME IN GHANA, IVORY COAST AND CAMEROON HAS BEGUN.

The consortium led by Incatema Consulting supports the EC in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of MAB programme (Banana Accompanying Measures) in 10 African and Caribbean countries.
BAM Programme has a 190 million Euro budget, for a 4 year implementation period (2014-2017) and takes place in 10 countries: Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Dominican Republic, Belize, Dominica, Jamaica, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Saint Lucia and Surinam.
The main goal of the programme is to enhance banana sector competitivity in these 10 countries.
In June 2014, the first technical assistance & monitoring field missions for BAM Programme have taken place in the 3 African countries. During the past weeks, the technical team has visited Ghana and Ivory Coast, where they have met all sector stakeholders including EU Delegation, Ministries of Agriculture, National Authorising Officer for the EDF in each country, sector private companies, inter-professional organisations and producers organisations.
The purpose of these first visits is to know onsite the present situation of the Programme and its degree of execution, as well as to agree on a common monitoring & evaluation system in the 10 countries participating in BAM Programme.
Next week, the team will travel to Cameroon, completing the first round of visits, corresponding to the African countries taking part in BAM.
From August on, the team will begin visits to the 7 Caribbean countries taking part in MAB as well.
