As already announced,an international consortium led by INCATEMA Consulting & Engineering supports the European Commission in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of BAM programme (Banana Accompanying Measures) in 10 African and Caribbean countries.
BAM Programme has a 190 million Euro budget for a 4 year implementation period (2014-2017) and takes place in 10 countries: Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Dominican Republic, Belize, Dominica, Jamaica, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Saint Lucia and Surinam. Its main goal of the programme is to enhance banana sector competitiveness in these countries.
In June 2014, the technical team visited the 3 African countries and in October it has started the first round oftechnical assistance & monitoring field missions for BAM Programme in the 7 Caribbean countries.
During this field visitthe technical team is meeting all sector stakeholders in each country, including EU Delegations, Ministries of Agriculture, National Authorising Officers for the EDF in each country, sector private companies, inter-professional organisations and producers organisations.
By mid-November, when this first round of field visits is concluded, a common monitoring and assessment framework for the ten counties will be established to be further implemented, integrating specific development objectives established by each of the involved countries into a common M&E framework that will allow global management of the BAM program by the EC Directorate General for Development and Cooperation (EuropeAid).
