Training workshops are launched in Algeria for operating the future statistics information system for fisheries and aquaculture.

On September 17th 2017, before the General Director for Fisheries and Aquaculture, DIVECO 2 Programme Director (a programme funded by the European Union), Under-director for Information Systems and Project Manager for INCATEMA, the official launching event for the training workshops for technical assistance contract in fisheries and aquaculture statistics has been carried out. This technical assistance is being implemented by INCATEMA Consulting & Engineering S.L. since January 2017.

The first approved workshops in the frame of this technical assistance seek to train staff from fisheries control units in the 21 beneficiary wilayas, as well as staff from the Wilayas’ Directorate for Fisheries and Fishing Resources and staff from central services in charge of fisheries and aquaculture statistics within the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries.

Topics covered are the following:

1st workshop: species identification and sampling strategies to collect data for statistics elaboration.

2nd workshop: practical running of software hosting statistical information.

Both workshops will be carried out four times, the first one for pilot wilayas and central services, and the three others for beneficiary wilayas on the east, centre and west of Algeria
