Honorary Mention for Incatema in the Design Contest for the New Municipal Market and Car Park of Almuñécar

18 November, 2020

Incatema Consulting & Engineering has obtained an Honorary Mention in the Design Contest with Jury Intervention for the drafting of the project, supervision of works and health and safety plan for the new municipal market and car park of Almuñécar (Granada).

Of the 29 proposals submitted, the contest’s jury has highlighted the worthiness of the project presented by Incatema’s Architectural Team, remarking on the “interesting thought that went into the building’s organisation” and its resulting structure.

The project situated on the same plot as the former Municipal Market and Car Park aims to enhance and revalue the zone and to connect it to the current Kuwait square. The programme contemplates a further 200 car parking spaces, room for at least 40 stalls and spaces for hospitality and small businesses.

The proposal presented by Incatema under the “Market of Fractals” theme, based the project on four underlying decisions:

- The emergence of a landscaped multipurpose city park on the market roof.

- Establishing a rigorous orthogonal order as the structure of the building.

- Opening the market onto the square powered by the movement and permeability of the facade.

- Reflecting the value of the town’s subtropical climate by inserting three internal patios that would structure the market and guarantee natural lighting and ventilation.

Incatema Consulting & Engineering, reinforcing the idea that Architectural Design Contests with Jury Interventions allow public bodies to offer citizens the opportunity to obtain the best town planning proposals, will continue to promote the provision of sustainable, financially viable and creative solutions that offer added value to each of the projects in which it takes part.
