Incatema collaborates with APACAMA on international breast cancer day

19 October, 2021

On the occasion of world breast cancer day, Incatema Consulting & Engineering is collaborating with the charity cake initiative of APACAMA, the first non-profit Association for the Prevention and Care of women affected by breast cancer in the province of Toledo.

To carry out this charity action, company employees will share a cake and make a donation for each portion. Collected funds will be paid to the association, whose main objective is to prevent and attend to women with breast cancer.

International breast cancer day aims to generate awareness among women and society at large of the need for early detection of this disease and to promote increasing access for women to attend controls, diagnoses, and appropriate and effective treatments. “The earlier the diagnosis, the more likelihood there is of eradicating the disease” underlines the association’s vice-president, Sara Martín, who insists not only on the possibilities of survival with early detection, but on “promoting an adequate treatment to prevent the appearance of the illness and to reduce its secondary effects at all levels, both physical and psychological”.

Every year, 1.38 million women contract the disease worldwide and 458,000 die, according to the World Health Organisation. Most of them in developing countries owing to late detection due to lack of awareness and the difficulty of access to health services.
