Incatema has completed, after 9 months of execution, the Consultancy project for the preparation of detailed designs and tender documents for irrigation, drainage and greenhouse projects in the province of Cabinda (Angola).
The company presented the executive projects for 12 irrigation systems in four municipalities of the Angolan province, including different irrigation, drainage systems and technologies, as well as tropicalised greenhouses with localised irrigation.
Irrigation will allow local producers to be able to grow several crop cycles throughout the year, increasing production and decreasing their dependence on weather conditions and rainfall. Irrigation systems mitigate the impact of climate change and increasingly erratic rainfall, which has a major impact on rainfed agriculture.
The 12 projects have been designed to cover a total area of 920 hectares, divided into 180 hectares of centre-irrigation pivot systems, 200 hectares of conventional sprinkler irrigation, 510 hectares of surface irrigation and drainage, 20 hectares of drip irrigation and 10 hectares of micro-sprinkler irrigation. As for the greenhouses, nine greenhouses with a surface area of 500 m2 each have been designed.
The consulting services provided by Incatema for the irrigation and drainage design are part of the Agricultural Value Chain Development Project in the province of Cabinda, which is financed by the African Development Bank and implemented by the Agricultural Development Institute of Angola, within the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of this country.
