In order to maximise business opportunities in Angola’s agricultural sector, mainly in the categories of purchase and sale of agricultural products, inputs, services and equipment, a round table was held in Kwanza Norte, with the technical assistance of Incatema, within the framework of the Commercial Agriculture Development Program (PDAC). This event has been designed by Incatema as a networking event among all participants.
The event, which was attended by more than 150 persons (farmers, suppliers of inputs, equipment, machinery and services, banks and insurance companies, as well as government representatives, among others), was crucial for strengthening agri-chains, generating alliances and optimising the logistics, processing and distribution of agricultural products. Incatema has contributed to this by creating a favourable environment for dialogue and negotiation between buyers, suppliers and farmers, with the aim of generating effective and lasting partnerships that translate into significant commercial benefits for all parties involved.
An Incatema technician has been present at each of the collaboration and negotiation tables to act as mediator and facilitate the conversation between the parties, clarifying doubts and ensuring that all interactions that have taken place between the parties involved have been productive.
In the words of Mr Luciano Palmitesta, Incatema’s team leader, “effective collaboration between the various players in the agri-food sector is crucial for sustainable business development”.
Incorporation of technologies to improve management capacity and sustainability
The meeting was particularly important to raise awareness of the importance of introducing new technologies, since these will be the catalyst for improving management capabilities, business skills, and levels of competitiveness as well as the sustainability of the different farms.
Technology applied to Angolan agricultural processes will be essential to achieve all PDAC objectives, including increasing agricultural productivity, improving market access and reducing dependence on food imports by facilitating information exchange and the formation of strategic partnerships.
PDAC is an Angolan government program, financed by the World Bank (WB) and the French Development Agency (AFD), to strengthen commercial agriculture by increasing productivity and improving access to markets for small and medium-sized individual and associated producers, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in agribusiness development in value chains such as corn, coffee, soybeans, beans, eggs and poultry, among others.
