Incatema begins construction of the working shaft for the Cambérène emissary

3 November, 2021

Incatema Consulting & Engineering has started building the working shaft for construction of the new submarine emissary of 1,200 m in length with a 2,200 mm diameter that will discharge effluents from the purification plant situated in Cambèréne district.

At this stage, the work focuses on building the entrance way for the tunnel boring machine to drill the ground and make way for the pipes that will be installed successively. This shaft will be used for both introducing the tunnel-boring machine and to extract material from the sea bed on conveyors. This surplus material will be lifted to the surface for subsequent transportation by truck.

The contract for construction of the Cambérène submarine emissary forms part of the government programme for decontaminating North Dakar, as we previously informed you here.
