Incatema publishes its first Sustainability Report faithful to its firm commitment to transparency

14 May, 2024

Incatema, a Spanish engineering and international consulting company whose work is distinguished by its commitment to sustainability, the application of best environmental practices and social integration in all its projects, has presented its first Sustainability Report for the 2022 and 2023 fiscal years.

This report contains a description and assessment of Incatema's performance in environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects. The publication, a voluntary initiative, represents a step forward in the company's commitment to transparency and sustainability, thus demonstrating to stakeholders and society as a whole its integrity and internal determination to continue operating as a responsible company that is aware of the impact of its actions on the planet.

"In the current global context, the relevance of sustainable performance, the management of non-financial elements and transparency in the communication of information related to ESG aspects has become imperative for corporate strategies and objectives. The urgency of addressing climate change, promoting the transition to a circular economy, safeguarding human rights and combating corruption reflects a paradigm shift in business conduct and strategy, and at Incatema we have embraced these challenges with enthusiasm and excitement," says Mr. Juan Carlos Astorga, Chief Financial and Compliance Officer of Incatema.

At this time, Incatema, although not subject to specific legal obligations in this area, has decided to prepare the Sustainability Report in recognition of the importance of integrating these principles into its strategy, thus responding to the expectations of the market and stakeholders, particularly those financial organisations that prioritise support for projects aligned with sustainable development. "The document reflects Incatema's firm commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inclusive growth in the developing countries in which we operate, and highlights the good environmental, social and good governance practices that have defined the company's corporate purpose since its founding almost thirty years ago," explains Mr. Juan Carlos Astorga.

All the projects carried out have been sustainable according to the European green taxonomy

Environmental performance follows the typical course of professional engineering and consulting services companies so that CO2 emissions, electricity consumption, paper consumption, water consumption and waste management are in reasonable comparable figures and on a clear path of containment or even reduction per capita. The coming years will serve as a contrast to confirm that this trend of progress continues. Social performance is especially relevant; Incatema is committed to hiring people from the territories in which it operates as a way of contributing to their economic growth, and especially promotes the participation and integration of women.

In terms of governance, all the projects carried out by Incatema in 2023 were sustainable according to the criteria of the European green taxonomy. Incatema always includes in all its projects actions aligned with at least three of the sustainable development goals defined by the United Nations: SDG 6 on clean water and sanitation, SDG 10 on reducing inequalities, and SDG 13 on climate action.
